Separation By Design is seeking a qualified PLC Developer to join our growing company in the Diesel Exhaust Fluid and Oil and Gas space. This person will work in conjunction with the engineering and production teams to develop PLC programs according to the client's electrical and mechanical requirements. Successful candidates should be self-starting and self-motivated, and have an interrelated background in automation, electrical controls, and fluid dynamics. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meeting and knowing the client's requirements for electrical and mechanical needs. 
  • Designing and drafting 2D and 3D drawings. 
  • Developing, reading, and interpreting logical flow diagrams. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Explaining to the clients how electrical components operate. 
  • Using automation software to write PLC programs. 
  • Preparing documents to instruct the users on how to use the device and other safety instructions. 
  • Testing the program using automation equipment for its reliability. 
  • Troubleshooting any faults in the system.
  • Installing and supervising the installation of PLC programs. 
  • Providing guidance and support to the other technicians. 
  • Offering training to other team members. 
  • Maintaining the PLC programs. 
  • Working in coordination with the Engineering and Production teams.
  • Assembling panels and testing

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Working experience as a PLC Developer, or a similar role in the Engineering industry. 
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software principles. 
  • Extensive knowledge of PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, sequential function charts, etc. 
  • Exceptional logic reasoning abilities. 
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. 
  • Excellent ability to work under no supervision. 
  • Good oral and written communication skills. 
  • Willingness to travel as and when required. 
  • Ability to solve complex problems. 
  • Good organizational and time management skills. 
  • Excellent mathematics and arithmetic skills. 
  • A keen eye for details for accuracy. 
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • AUTOCAD Electrical experience a plus.

Education & Experience:

  • Associates Degree, or higher. Prior engineering and plc programming experience required. 
  • Prior experience using automated engineering tools required, to include:
    • 2+ years of related work experience
    • PLC/HMI programming
    • AutoCAD
